10 Best Things to Do in Alibaug

Beaches, sea forts, water sports and Konkan food — here are the ten experiences that make an Alibaug trip worth repeating.

Water sports and beach activities in Alibaug near Nagaon Beach

1. Beach Time at Nagaon Beach

Nagaon is one of the cleanest and least crowded beaches in the Alibaug belt. The water is calm, which makes it safer for families with kids, and local operators run jet-ski, banana-boat, bumper-ride and parasailing sessions through the day.

Staying near Nagaon means you can walk to the beach for sunset without planning a whole excursion. Malhar Baug Resort is roughly 2 km (a 5-minute drive) from Nagaon Beach.

2. Walk to Kolaba Fort at Low Tide

Kolaba (Kulaba) Fort, Shivaji Maharaj’s last major construction, sits just off Alibaug Beach. At low tide the causeway emerges and you can simply walk across — check tide timings locally before you go.

Inside the walls you will find old cannons, a small Ganesh temple and wide views of the coastline.

3. Water Sports Around Nagaon & Alibaug

  • Jet skiing and banana boat rides at Nagaon Beach
  • Parasailing over the Arabian Sea
  • Kayaking in the calm backwaters near Akshi
  • Scuba-style helmet diving sessions run seasonally at Alibaug Beach

4. Revdanda Fort & the Coastal Road Drive

The drive south along the coastal road toward Revdanda is arguably the most scenic route in the area, crossing creeks and passing through coconut groves. Revdanda Fort itself is a Portuguese-era structure where the walls literally wrap around a working village.

5. A Day Trip to Kashid & Murud-Janjira

Head north for white sand at Kashid, then continue to Murud to see Janjira — the island fort that was never conquered. Boats leave from Rajapuri jetty. Plan this as a full-day outing.

6. Konkan Food You Should Not Miss

Alibaug is a food destination in its own right. Look out for ukadiche modak, sol kadhi, bombil (Bombay duck) fry, kolambi (prawn) curry and the classic Maharashtrian thali. Our own restaurant serves home-style Konkan meals made with produce sourced locally.

7. Sunset Points, Markets & Slow Evenings

Some of the best moments in Alibaug are slow ones — sunset from the rocks near Akshi, shopping for Kolhapuri chappals and local handicrafts in Alibaug market, or a bonfire on the lawns back at your resort. If you are travelling as a group, ask us about BBQ evenings and rain dance sessions.

Where to Stay

Most of these experiences are within a 30-minute drive of each other, so a single well-located base works best. Browse our rooms and villas or contact us for help planning your itinerary.
